We bought a secondhand checkered shirt made out of 100% cotton and tested its tearing strength. Using a template provided in a lab specially for this test, we marked 5 samples of our fabric and cut them out. The five specimen has its short side parallel to the weft and warp yarns of the fabric.
We started with a C weight and placed it on the machine and set the machine according to the weight. We placed the material between the clamps and tightened them. Then we used the knife on the machine to make a small cut in a fabric and released the pendulum. The C weight torn the test material in two pieces.
