Another test we performed on denim was a rubbing test. This test shows us how much color can be transfered on another fabric in dry and wet state by rubbing. We used the same denim jeans as we used during the washing test, cut out a sample and placed it in the rubbing machine. On the rubber part of the machine we first placed a dry piece of cotton and performed 10 rubs. We did the same thing with the wet piece of cotton.

After testing both fabrics for 10 rubs, we compared the results under the light. The dry piece of cotton wasn't colored by the denim fabric at all, so we decided to rate it 4 1/2 on the color chart. On the other hand, the wet piece of cotton had a light blue stain on it after rubbing so we decided to mark the result with the number 4 of the color chart.

Since we were using a pair of old jeans, the denim fabric was already very light from the washing and therefore it didn't really transfer the color after perfoming this rubbing test.
